Interview of Junichi Azuma, Osaka CCI Life Science Promotion Created in 1878, the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the second oldest in Japan and has about 30 000 members. Its Life Science Industry Committee focuses on 3 segments: pharmaceutical, healthcare and health food, medical devices. What are the initiatives of Osaka CCI in favor of the pharmaceutical industry ? Our job is to connect researchers and private companies. We’ve created the Drug Seeds Alliance Network, launched in 2010, that collects the research projects related to drug discovery or delivery systems from universities and medical institutes nationwide. Then we organize business matching events with companies. Since then beginning of the DSAN, we’ve had more than 3000 successful matchmaking and 35 technology transfers. Our 50 member companies are from all over Japan. They are big players of the domestic market and overseas companies that have a presence in Japan.
